Born in Venice, Italy, Elena Camerin Young is a very active singer and composer, working with several groups and with her own projects in clubs and theaters in Italy and the U.S. In July 2004, she won the Best Student Award at the Michele Hendricks' Vocal Jazz Workshop in Spoleto, with the Spoleto Arts Symposia. She lived in New York City from 2008-2015 where she became part of the underground jazz scene. She moved to Boulder in August 2015, where she founded the Nalanda Ensemble; she is the host of OH SNAP!, a series created for free improvisers, with Farrell Lowe and she’s part of the FLUX CREW, directed by J.A. Deane and she works with many musicians in the greater Denver area.
