Having been praised as possessing “pristine playing, meticulous composing” and “a very personal voice deserving of attention,” award-winning guitarist and composer Denin Slage-Koch has done a lot. He has performed and/or recorded with Shane Endsley, Stafford Hunter, Brad Goode, Wycliffe Gordon, Dee Daniels, Drew Zaremba, Bob Curnow, Zach Rich, the Colorado Symphony, and the Spokane Symphony Orchestra, published a book read around the world (Kurt Rosenwinkel’s Star of Jupiter: Transcriptions and Analysis), graduated from the world-renowned Eastman School of Music, and released a critically-acclaimed album of original music – all before he turned 27 years old.
"re: manhattan project," Denin's debut album, is a ten-movement suite for jazz quintet that reimagines the story of the Manhattan Project. The album was praised by AllAboutJazz.com as “remarkable,” “extraordinary, “moving” and containing “beautiful interplay.” Denin’s accolades include recognition as "Best Graduate Blues/Pop/Rock Soloist" in the 2022 Downbeat Student Music Awards, where he was also recognized as a member of the University of Northern Colorado Lab One, which was named "Best Graduate Large Jazz Ensemble”. In addition to his Master of Music degree from Eastman, Denin also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Whitworth University and is pursuing his doctorate in jazz studies at the University of Northern Colorado."
