Clare is originally from Illinois and has lived and performed all over the country - from Chicago to Portland to the Bay Area to Denver. She has shared the stage with the Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Henderson, Natalie Cole, Nancy Wilson, Mel Tormé, Doc Severinsen, Christian McBride, Dianne Reeves, the Four Tops, the Temptations, and many more. In addition to small group jazz and big band performances, Clare has been a regular in the pits of local theaters and has performed with symphony orchestras all over the nation, including the San Francisco Symphony, Oakland Symphony, Rockford Symphony, Colorado Symphony and Philadelphia Orchestra. Clare has been featured on many local and national artists’ recordings, including Boy Girl Band's Down the Corridor, Polarity's King of Hearts, and Expeditions' I’ll Fly Away. Her recent album, Songs for Ada May, was produced, written and recorded with husband Pete Lewis for their granddaughter and features Clare on vocals as well as drums. Clare taught instrumental music in Boulder Valley Schools in Boulder, CO from 1996-2020, and currently teaches Jazz Techniques for Music Educators at the University of Colorado Boulder. Clare is also the co-founder and co-owner of the Muse Performance Space in Lafayette, CO, where she spends many happy hours either playing with other local musicians or running sound and tech for their concerts.
